Methodik & Grenzen

Shadow Correction — v0.1
Tool for applying the Anthropic Shadow correction formula to survivorship-filtered statistics
λ̂_corrected = λ̂_naive / P(Survival) after Ćirković, Sandberg & Bostrom (2010, Risk Analysis 30(10), doi:10.1111/j.1539-6924.2010.01460.x).
All form labels and presets are shared with the German interface; the calculation is language-independent. Switch back to Deutsch to use the controls — the methodology section below is the English equivalent of the German documentation.
Methodology & Limits
The Anthropic Shadow logic was originally developed for astrobiological existential risks (Ćirković, Sandberg & Bostrom 2010). The tool transfers the structurally identical correction formula to arbitrary survivorship-filtered observations — including recidivism statistics, medical treatment success rates, and financial performance databases. The formula itself makes no assumptions about the domain; it only assumes that a filter separates the real population from the observed sample.
